From
the city's largest ever football game, the Circle City
Classic, to the NCAA Final Four, the RCA Dome is the
site of a variety of events.
Unlike most domed stadiums, the RCA Dome was built by
the city as a much-needed expansion to a convention
center, not as a stand-alone sporting venue. The Indiana
Convention Center is one of only two convention centers
in the nation directly connected to a domed stadium. |

The stadium was under construction even before talks
about moving the Colts to Indianapolis began. According
to officials, because of the stadium's adaptability
to accommodate a variety of events, it would be heavily
utilized even without a professional football team.
(The Colts play in the RCA Dome only ten times each
year.) In addition to hosting NFL football action, the
facility is booked year-round for events including trade
shows; regional, national and international conventions;
concerts; large banquets; religious assemblies and
various sporting events.
Formerly known as the Hoosier Dome, the RCA Dome has
played host to other college events over the years.
The University of Indiana football and basketball
teams occasionally strike out from nearby
Bloomington to play games in Indy.
Home of the Indianapolis Colts - The Colts are
expected to begin play in their new retractable-roof
stadium in 2008. When they do, the RCA Dome will
pass into history.
The RCA Dome is a fine facility. It may be
best-located stadium in the league, sitting as it
does in the heart of Indy’s newly restored,
visitor-friendly downtown. It is within easy walking
distance of world-class hotels and a multitude of
dining options.
The stadium has been good to the Colts, too. They’ve
gone 12-4 at home the past two regular seasons,
mostly because they were smart enough to build a
peerless passing offense that capitalized on the
dome’s always-favorable weather. There isn’t a
better quarterback in the NFL than Peyton Manning,
and there isn’t a better place in which to see him
prey on some hapless defense than the RCA Dome.
Indianapolis Colts Preview
Will the Indianapolis Colts be able to repeat their
stellar performance in 2007 and make it to Super
Bowl XLII in 2008? They will if MVP Peyton Manning
has anything to say about it and the Colts only
increased their chances with excellent draft picks
WR Anthony Gonzalez, OT Tony Ugoh and DB Daymeion
Huges. But it won’t be easy in the brutal AFC South
and the team needs your support. This will be your
last chance to catch the Colts at RCA Dome before
they head to Lucas Oil Stadium in 2008. Tickets are
going fast – don’t miss your chance to catch all the
action of the Indianapolis Colts in 2007!
One thing to expect from the Colts: probably
the best passing game in the NFL. That's the job of
QB Peyton Manning plus Marvin Harrison, Reggie
Wayne, Brandon Stokley, Dallas Clark and rookie
Joseph Addai. Which is not to say there won't be
great defense courtesy of the likes of tackle Corey
Simon or rusher Dwight Freeney. Buy your
Indianapolis Colts tickets and see it all for
yourself!
